New TextPower & Summer On-Peak Hours

Mid-Carolina Electric Cooperative is excited to announce two significant updates aimed at improving member convenience and service: a new, more convenient and secure 10-digit phone number for its TextPower service and a shift in Summer On-Peak Hours.

TextPower Enhancements Starting February 3

To enhance security and streamline outage reporting, MCEC will transition to a new 10-digit phone number. Members can text OUT to 803-749-6555 to report power interruptions, making communication faster and more reliable.

• Text MCEC to 803-749-6555 to register.
• Text OUT to 803-749-6555 if power is interrupted.
• Call 803-749-6444 or 888-813-7000 for assistance.

ALREADY ENROLLED? There is NO need to reenroll after February 3.

Members currently enrolled in TextPower will receive a series of text messages on Feb. 3:

1. The first text message will confirm unenrollment from the old number 85700.
2. A second text message will notify members who are already enrolled in TextPower of the new number. 
3. For added convenience, members are encouraged to delete 85700 and save the new number in their contacts after receiving the text.

NEW TO TEXTPOWER? Members not currently enrolled can sign up starting February 3 by texting MCEC to 803-749-6555 and immediately begin reporting outages with ease.

Shifting Summer On-Peak Hours for Greater Flexibility
Mid-Carolina is adjusting its Summer Peak Hours. Beginning April 1, Summer On-Peak Hours will shift from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. to a more convenient 3 p.m. – 6 p.m.

This change provides greater flexibility for members to manage energy use while maintaining the cooperative’s commitment to efficiency and sustainability.
